December 19th, 2017 We already ’s incredible debut yesterday, but there were other films that were in theaters over the weekend. The Last Jedi earned nearly 80% of the total, so the rest of the box office had to settle for the leftovers. Was a distant second with just $13.40 million, which is lower than our low. Overall, the box office more than tripled from hitting $278 million. More importantly, it rose by 31% when compared to this weekend. Year-to-date, 2017 cut 2016’s lead by nearly $100 million in just one week. Granted, 2017 is still behind by $320 million or 3.0% at $10.10 billion to $10.42 billion. However, I just wanted 2017 to cut the lead to $250 million and that looks a lot more likely now than it did even a month ago. December 14th, 2017 2017 is behind 2016’s pace by over $400 million and and this weekend is the last chance it has to cut that deficit by any real margin. This weekend, debuts and it is practically a guaranteed monster hit. Made just over $400 million in the 2016 calendar year, while earned just over $650 million. The Last Jedi is widely expected to earn somewhere in-between those results. In the meantime, there is one other wide release,, which is the textbook definition of counter-programming. The is just hoping it doesn’t get lost in the crowd.

I’m very excited to share with you my inspiration and research process behind the books. Maia D’Apliese and her five sisters gather together at their childhood home, “Atlantis”—a fabulous, secluded castle situated on the shores of Lake Geneva—having been told that their beloved father, who adopted them all as babies, has died. Each of them is handed a tantalizing clue to her true heritage—a clue which takes Maia across the world to a crumbling mansion in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Once there, she begins to put together the pieces of her story and its beginnings. Eighty years earlier in Rio’s Belle Epoque of the 1920s, Izabela Bonifacio’s father has aspirations for his daughter to marry into the aristocracy. Meanwhile, architect Heitor da Silva Costa is devising plans for an enormous statue, to be called Christ the Redeemer, and will soon travel to Paris to find the right sculptor to complete his vision. Izabela—passionate and longing to see the world—convinces her father to allow her to accompany him and his family to Europe before she is married. There, at Paul Landowski’s studio and in the heady, vibrant cafes of Montparnasse, she meets ambitious young sculptor Laurent Brouilly, and knows at once that her life will never be the same again. In this sweeping, epic tale of love and loss—the first in a unique, spellbinding series of seven novels—Lucinda Riley showcases her storytelling talent like never before. Foreigner tour dates, ticket information, VIP tickets, meet & greet updates. Why does God allow innocent people to suffer? What about the issue of suffering? Doesn’t this prove that there is no God and that we are on our own? The Foreigner was released in China on 30 September 2017, in the United States on 13 October 2017 and in the United Kingdom in December 2017 on Netflix. It grossed $144 million worldwide and received mixed reviews, although critics praised the against the type performances of Chan and Brosnan. The Foreigner is a 2017 action thriller film directed by Martin Campbell and written by David Marconi, based on the 1992 novel The Chinaman by Stephen Leather. Oct 13, 2017 Watch trailers, read customer and critic reviews, and buy The Foreigner (2017) directed by Martin Campbell for $14.99. The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, is a timely action thriller from the director of Casino Royale. The film tells the story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love -- his teenage daughter -- is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers. ½ Jackie Chan just keeps fuckin' bringing it doesn't he? The serious tone of The Foreigner fits him well, but the role he plays seems oddly shoehorned in. I understand that the movie is in actual fact based on a novel called The Chinaman, which I assume unfolds more or less as the film does. But the Troubles-themed Political Drama makes up most of the runtime in The Foreigner, and the Action/Revenge Thriller element seems almost like at some point in pre-production the crew went 'Holy shit, did you know we can put Jackie Chan in this? Write him a role!' Although I'm sure that it's not the case, that is how it feels, and while the Action/Revenge Thriller element is the best part of the movie, its failure to mesh with the piece at large does bring it all down a bit. Still a worthwhile watch if you're a fan of the Chan. ½ At the age of sixty-three and nearly seven years after any type of significant showing on the big screen I imagine Jackie Chan doesn't necessarily want to be starring in second rate scripts Liam Neeson passed on as someone called Quan Ngoc Minh. I imagine he'd like to be making more thought-provoking actioners or maybe even interesting character pieces, but that just doesn't seem to be in the cards for the poor guy. He seems to have tried his hand at making low-risk action/comedies and has done an abundance of voice over work, most recently in the subpar The LEGO Ninjago Movie, but the question has now become that of how does a man always known for his agility and stylistic fighting abilities age into a Hollywood environment based on franchises and brand recognition? Well, make Rush Hour 4 obviously. This is kind of the point though, as Chan has played in seemingly everything the industry could think to put him in, so it makes sense that now-as there is no shortage of aging stars that were once marquee names who are willing to try their hand at being action stars-that a true action star would join in on the fun. Unfortunately, The Foreigner isn't that much fun. As much as this feels like a last resort of sorts for Chan it is a double-edged sword for that of his co-star Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan would seemingly like to be a well-regarded leading man in more mature fare, but it is likely he sees no other options in maintaining his relevancy and so we will continue to get things such as leading roles like in The November Man (though I wonder if he could even pull off something like that only three years after the fact) and supporting roles such as this before having a late in life career renaissance that will leave his legacy as more than just the guy who once played James Bond.or maybe that arc will be saved for Daniel Craig. All of this is to say that both Chan and Brosnan as well as director Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro, Goldeneye, Casino Royale) have been put to better use in much better movies as The Foreigner feels like a much-delayed attempt to hop on the now sub-genre of older, unsuspecting guys kicking ass and taking names. The Foreigner is a film as generic as anything we've seen this year which is a shame considering it doesn't utilize its stars strongest asset to great effect. I like Jackie Chan, you can't help but to root for the guy and that is inevitable here as well despite the fact that every few minutes you might have to ask yourself where these characters are, where they're going, and/or what exactly they're doing and for what reason. It's that kind of movie though, one that by the time the credits roll you'll shrug it off and move on; no harm and no real foul. Read the whole review at www.reviewsfromabed.com. But with good reason as this plot twist will have your knickers locked down ( and not just in a bunch!). The plot is just too delicious. The characters are just fascinating. No modern day electronics. No ability to research anything other than by asking questions. And Christie wrote this nearly 100 years ago. That's why it's a 5 for me -- it's pure good storytelling without anything in the way. ”The train, it is as dangerous as a sea voyage!” So, this was my first Agatha Christie book and considering how much fun I had while I read it, it definitely won’t be my last.;-) Yes, you read correctly and your mind didn’t play tricks on you: I had F.U.N!!! XD Even the doctor and the conductor! And I think it was exactly that moment when I finally realised that I was right, because as soon as I thought it, I instantly latched onto the conductors testimony and from there on everything fell into place.;-) I knew he must have lied and therefore been involved in the crime and then I thought about all those little hints I collected so carefully. The weapon in the spongebag, the mention of the actress, the door that was open, the incriminating pipe cleaner, the familiarity between Colonel Arbuthnot and Mary Debenham, the number of wounds on the victim and especially the remarkable difference of those mentioned stab wounds, the list could go on and on! What’s the genre? A little bit fantasy, a little bit horror, a little bit family drama. It’s probably best described as a dark fairy tale, equally indebted to Guillermo del Toro and The NeverEnding Story. What’s it about? A fair bit of I Kill Giants is just about process. It opens with Barbara studiously making and testing bait for the giants, laying out experiments, and observing the results. It is directed by Anders Walter. Click to get latest reviews, trailer & buzz. I Kill Giants Trailer. Anders Walter's I Kill Giants (2017) movie trailer stars Zoe Saldana, Madison Wolfe, Imogen Poots, Jennifer Ehle, and Noel Clarke. (Virtually all of them female, including the people who support her and the bullies who haunt her; the speaking roles for male characters are fairly minimal.) But the film spends a fair bit of time with her alone, pursuing her quiet obsession — guarding her school with runes and handmade fetishes, leaving containers of rotting food around town as further bait, and other activities that look like mental illness from one angle, and a lonely, complicated vigil from another. If nothing else, it’s impressive how, at such a young age, Barbara is so devoted to her self-appointed duties. She treats other people with fearless contempt because she sees herself as doing more important work, with bigger consequences, than whatever they’re using to fill their empty lives. But in a way, she’s earned that contempt. She works hard at planning for and dealing with giants. She’s an adolescent girl with a full-time job. But more than that, I Kill Giants is about loneliness and how hard it can be to face our fears, let alone to let other people in on those fears. Barbara takes on her solitary task with the ferocity of any hero saving the world because no one else seems to be doing it, but she also tries to let other people into her life. It’s telling, and tragic, that she seems to be most balanced and confident when she’s keeping everyone at arm’s length. Only opening up seems to leave her vulnerable, frightened, and uncertain. Django isn't really a biopic, despite the implication of its title: There are no misty flashbacks to Reinhardt's childhood stealing chickens in the French countryside, and no scene depicting the caravan fire that badly damaged his left hand (though his two mangled fingers do come up for inspection). The film is more of a fraught character study, a portrait of the artist under pressure. Comar, best known as a writer and producer of the 2010 film Of Gods and Men, brings admirable restraint to his directorial debut, keeping the stakes high and the focus taut. Reinhardt is a laconic and reluctant hero: 'This isn't my war,' he growls, citing allegiance not to a flag but to a Romani's coldly pragmatic ambivalence. Django charts his awakening to the horrors of the war — notably for his people, whose mass extermination imbues the film with a self-righteous, lugubrious air. Comar is more effective with uneasy proximities and grim capitulations, showing how complicity can form through a series of slippages. But the film's story — loosely adapted from Alexis Salatko's novel Folles de Django — manages to feel at once oversimplified, underfed and overburdened. Reinhardt's personal evolution is clumsily tracked in dialogue with a former mistress who has suffered unnamed violations at the hands of the occupiers: 'You're the only person this war hasn't changed,' she says bitterly to Reinhardt. (She later rescinds the charge.) A climactic set piece at a Nazi banquet feels pat. It's not inherently a problem that Comar does less with plot than he does with imagery: There's vivid poignancy in his depiction of the mass evacuation, and in Reinhardt's desperate flight through the snow. But by all accounts — the most authoritative being Michael Dregni's excellent biography Django: The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend — Reinhardt was even more conflicted during the occupation than this film makes him out to be. His elegant ballad 'Nuages,' for instance, was a rousing anthem for the French Resistance. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of. Django Reinhardt: Full title. Commemorative, Music; France. Get a Coffin Ready! / Viva Django! It was changed into Preparati la Bara! For the home market and the working title was only. In France Django was then. The song appears early in the film, as if Comar were eager to get it out of the way. The Resistance itself is an amorphous presence — surely an intentional choice, though the reasons are unclear. And what's meant to be a wrenching coda — the post-armistice premiere of an organ mass called 'Requiem for Gypsy Brothers' — is marred by the wan pathos of the music itself, composed by Warren Ellis. As the piece plays, Reinhardt stands dumbstruck, overcome. But if we're supposed to believe this piece represents the peak of Reinhardt's emotional expression, the point is discredited by earlier musical evidence. In a film that's so often about taking sides, Django can feel at war with itself.
